Hawaii!

December 13, 2008 (evening): Yup! There it is...Hawaii!

"80 Degrees, partly cloudy, with rain," was the captain's announcement

as we landed in Honolulu.

Hey, I'll take rain with 80 degree weather

over snow and freezing temperatures any day!

We had a 20 hour layover in Hawaii before heading on to Manila. The plan was to arrive in time to attend a Luau at the PCC, but with our delay in SLC and an hour drive to the north side of the island, it was too late to attend the Luau. Plus, there had been torrential rainstorms the day before in Laie--19+ inches of rain!!! We drove through some mighty deep puddles (small lakes?) on the way north. And when we arrived, discovered the power was out at all the sites we wanted to see! The power was not out at McDonald's or our hotel (Laie Inn), thank goodness. So after eating dinner we called it an early night with hopes for clear skies and sunshine in the morning!
