December 25, 2008 (Naga, PI): Christmas morning started early, like every other day around here! We had to get gifts out of the way to make room for approximately 70 people who had been invited for a Christmas open house at the mission home.
Christmas morning participating in one of Amy's Christmas traditions.
Visitor's that attended the open house introduced us to a new twist on Christmas carols by bringing along a beat box and a tambourine. It was fun to hear the Christmas songs with a new beat and a little jingle.
Once the morning visitor's left, we cleared the dishes and restocked the table for lunch with about 30 missionaries. The missionaries made a good dent in the food we had prepared.
President Smith offered to drive one group of missionaries home and let Amy and I come along for the ride. We drove through one of the most beautiful areas of the mission.
We made a stop by the beach after dropping off the missionaries. It was a beautiful day! The water was calm and the sun was shining. If you can't have snow for Christmas, you might as well have a beautiful sunny day at the beach!
Christmas was unique this year! I missed the snow, family, and friends, but it's not every day you can experience another culture's Christmas traditions. I hope that everyone back home had a wonderful Christmas day!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
