Maligayang Pasko from Amy E.

December 25, 2008: Merry Christmas from the Philippines! What a great way to spend the holiday...in a warm climate, with people I love, meeting new friends, and enjoying the blessings of the season.

Here are a few of the things we did on Christmas Day:

  • Opened presents--Santa visited the Mission Home despite not having a chimney
  • Had an open house for the friends of Pres. & Sister Smith
  • Sang Christmas carols with new friends
  • Ate food--some good, some not so yummy!
  • Had an open house for the missionaries of the Naga and Pamplona zones
  • Visited Pasagau beach
  • Attended the Naga 3rd Ward Christmas Party (and ate more food, despite being complete full!)
Here are a few photos and a video of the day.

My mom's elegant Christmas Tree

Terri and I got hand-woven place mats.

This photo is great because you can see my mom getting her new skirt and my dad checking out his new Orchids in the garden in the background of the photo.
The Christmas Open House spread!

Brother Willy with his daughters.

Gingerbread cookies, made by Rosemary. She didn't have a cookie cutter, so she cut them all out by hand.

Sister Gloria made sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves.

It wasn't my favorite thing to eat!

After the missionary open house, we drove the Pamplona Zone back to their area. We stopped at the Pasacou Beach on our way home. Wish we could have stayed--The sun was shining and the water was warm and clear.

We ended our very busy Christmas Day by attending the Naga 3rd Ward Christmas Party.
